The Injury Management and Return to Work (RTW) Support team is a multidisciplinary team responsible for enabling and supporting functions critical to delivering a high performing claims management service. The team monitors and drives the integrity of medical information as it relates to claims received by Comcare.This includes management of Comcare’s Clinical Panel, independent medical examinations and monitoring medical providers. The team also facilitate a network or community of practice for injury management advisors working on claims. The team focus on RTW practice across Australian Public Service (APS) agencies and projects to help improve performance and outcomes.Overview of the RoleThe Assistant Director, RTW Support leads a team responsible for driving standards of rehabilitation and RTW practice across Comcare and employers. The team implements projects of improvement to improve capability and RTW outcomes.The Assistant Director leads this work and collaborates across Comcare, our client agencies and with contracted service providers. The AD will utilise data sources and evidence-based approaches to develop recommendations and subsequently inform continuous improvement initiatives, delivering better practice. The Assistant Director, RTW Support reports to the Director, Injury Management and RTW Support.The primary responsibilities are:Contribute to Comcare’s purpose, Corporate Plan and claims management strategy and operating model.Drive rehabilitation and RTW practice across claims management operations in line with the claims management strategy including the achievement of claims management targets and contributing to successful completion of improvement projects. This includes monitoring claims management activities (especially RTW) and compliance with Comcare’s rules and objectives.Lead Comcare’s monitoring of RTW practice across APS agencies and implement projects to improve rehabilitation and RTW approaches and capability.Work across Comcare and our client agencies, to focus on the delivery of consistent rehabilitation and RTW, positive claim outcomes, sharing information and better practice, and resolving conflicts.Lead a small team in accordance with APS and Comcare requirements including human resource, financial management and procurement requirements.
