The role and team
We are seeking a qualified Social Worker who can provide support and counselling to prisoners, assist in the management of at-risk prisoners, participate in case reviews, and co-facilitate the delivery of intensive treatment programs. You will work within our large, multidisciplinary Resettlement and Reintegration team of about twenty, working with four other Social Workers, Psychologists, Case Management Coordinators, Education Coordinators, and First Nations Liaison Officers. In this role you will:
* Provide support and counselling to prisoners and assist in the management of at-risk prisoners.
* Attend High-Risk Assessment Team (HRAT) meetings and provide advice and expertise in the management of at-risk prisoners.
* Co-facilitate the delivery of intensive treatment programs.
* Identify any prisoner with literacy and numeracy needs and advise the onsite Education staff to assist.
* Assist in the pre-release requirements of prisoners.
* Conduct ‘Throughcare' plans when required by the Parole Board, Sentence Management Unit, or Serious Offender Committee.
* Prepare prisoner requests for emergency/compassionate leave.
What we're looking for
* Completion of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work.
* Holder of a current driver's licence or probationary licence.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
