Gympie Regional Council is seeking a dynamic Coordinator Water Industry Operations. This newly updated role is pivotal in aligning with our branch’s strategic goals and industry trends, driving improvements in outcomes, efficiency, and operational empowerment.
As the Coordinator, you will ensure the delivery of water, sewage, and recycled water systems in line with environmental, safety, and water quality standards while leading your team to adopt innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture focused on safety, continuous improvement, and innovation, ensuring that the team operates at its best while adapting to emerging challenges.
This role requires a keen understanding of water industry regulations and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
4. Lead and manage the operations team in planning, resource allocation, and the execution of tasks to ensure water, sewage, and recycled water systems are efficient and compliant.
5. Coordinate operational processes, including routine and regulatory testing, and ensure that all procedures align with best-practice management.
6. Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
7. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and risk reduction within the team.
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of water and sewage processes. You’ll possess demonstrated experience leading large teams, optimising operations, and meeting service outcomes while managing budgets effectively. A deep understanding of regulatory compliance and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Proven ability to effectively lead a team of people, promote the Water while fostering a positive, dynamic organisational culture which is committed to Council’s vision and values.
Manage the performance of staff members and contractors to ensure a strong customer service focus is maintained with prompt response to customer requests or complaints.

Implementation of workforce strategies to achieve the Water vision, goals and key priorities, in particular development of standard operating and monitoring procedures across the various schemes, whilst building a capable and cross-functional team which focusses on delivery of committed customer service levels and outcomes.
Build effective relationships and partnerships across key stakeholder groups to reduce the cost to serve our customers.

Foster a climate for continuous improvement for policies and processes and identify new fit-for-purpose emerging technologies or practices that can reduce the whole of asset life cycle cost.
