NAC based in Acland, 35km north-west of Toowoomba, has played a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.New Acland Mines unique approach to achieving a sustainable, economically productive and environmentally healthy post mine landscape is award winning, demonstrating leadership and commitment to sustainable business practices.Reporting to the HSET Superintendent, you will be responsible for the ongoing development and delivery of successful health and safety system initiatives, setting strategic direction of the safety function for the New Acland Mine. You will drive safety performance while providing support/coaching to site-based employees to ensure compliance.Your Responsibilities:Provide technical input into incident reports, investigation of incident causes and prepare and implement action plans to prevent reoccurrenceSupport and facilitate the maintenance of all Health and Safety documentation, policies, and proceduresFacilitation of WRACs, Bowtie and Critical Control reviews and implementationMonitor, report and provide insights on progress against health and safety performance metricsManage and conduct safety training programs and risk management processesRSHQ reporting supportOversee the implementation of health and safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement in safety performanceCoordination of Emergency Response systems and processesCoordination and auditing of first aid, mines rescue and fire equipmentGeneral site audits and inspections as requiredSupport the Contract Manager with routine inspections of contractors to verify compliance to SHEMsLead audit and compliance activities to ensure compliance and adherence to site SHEMs and ensure its effectiveness including the identification and implementation of site and industry-wide initiativesCoaching in Safety Interactions and Hazard reportingMinimum Requirements:Tertiary level qualification within Health, Safety or Risk discipline as a minimumRIIRIS402 (G2)RIIRIS601 (G3 / GMIRM)ICAM Lead Investigation CompetencyDemonstrated site-based coal mining industry experience in a Health and Safety capacity (5 years minimum)Extensive knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act including all relevant regulations, guidelines and Australian Standards and their application in an operational environment is preferablePeople management and leadership capabilityExcellent communication skills with the ability to engage with front line leaders and workforceExcellent working knowledge of establishing and maintaining Safety and Health Management systems within a mining environmentDemonstrated ability to identify risks and implement appropriate strategies to mitigate/minimiseHigh level judgement, decision-making and problem-solving capability, as well as a professional level of written and oral communication skillsStrong planning and organising skillsWhat Working at NAC Offers:Discounted health insurance (Medibank), New Hope Smart Saver programNovated Lease / Salary packagingFitness Subsidy and Purchased Leave ProgramsWorking for an organisation who is committed to the prosperity of the local communityCareer development through structured programs and diversified on the job work experiencesWith an opportunity to live and work locally in the Darling Downs (Toowoomba or Western Downs regions) you will be committed to delivering administration support that promotes the success of the NAC site.New Hope Group and New Acland Coal is an Equal Opportunity Employer and we are committed to promoting a workforce that embodies the people, the community, and attributes of the regions in which we operate.
