HEALTH INFORMATION SERVICES MANAGER Clinical Operations Permanent Full Time, up to 80 hours per fortnight

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Health Information Services Manager (HISM) to lead and manage the Health Information Services at West Gippsland Healthcare Group. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations (DCO), this pivotal role is responsible for overseeing Medical Records, Reception, Ward Clerks, and the Admissions Office. The HISM will provide expertise, leadership, and support in all aspects of health information management, ensuring compliance with data reporting requirements and industry standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of Victorian health data reporting, and experience in the development and management of medical record systems.
The HISM will work closely with the Executive Team, Divisional Directors, and other key stakeholders to develop policies, ensure compliance with statutory reporting guidelines, and drive quality improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include managing staffing structures within budget constraints, maintaining data integrity for Victorian Admitted Episode Dataset (VAED), Victorian Emergency Minimum Dataset (VEMD), Agency Information Management System (AIMS), and Victorian Health Experience Survey (VHES), and ensuring accurate and timely patient information submissions. Additionally, the role involves coordinating Freedom of Information requests, medico-legal documentation, and compliance with privacy legislation as the organization's Privacy Officer. The ideal candidate will be strategic, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering a customer-focused service while upholding the corporate vision, mission, and values.

Our Preferred Candidate Will Have Eligible for full membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia. Demonstrated skill and knowledge of health information management concepts and practices. Excellent communication, consultative and interpersonal skills. Ability to accept the responsibility of a department head position. Ability to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in the environment and initiate change where appropriate. The Following Experience/qualifications Would Be Considered Advantageous Previous experience as a department head or senior HIM position. Demonstrated ability to achieve targets and deadlines. IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) may be required prior to commencement.
