THE ROLE
As an Operations Manager, you will lead our Council Contracts division in Cairns. The main responsibility of this role is to lead our team to effectively manage daily operational goals for our various contracts in the region. This role calls for a ‘hands-on’ and tenacious leader who is driven to succeed through team engagement and an understanding of principles that underpin excellence in transport operations. You will be working with a safe, modern, and reliable fleet, serviced and maintained in our on-site workshops. We are an essential services industry, offering stability to employees and reliability to our customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist and lead operations on a day to day basis
* Support and mentor a team of 30+ drivers
* Willingness to drive a truck regularly
* Establish and manage relationships with customers, team members, and stakeholders
* Mentor and train your team
* Coordinate and optimise fleet activities - agile and flexible
* Comply with laws, regulations, and requirements including OH&S with an understanding of return to work processes
* Identify enhancement opportunities and suggest solutions for improvement
ABOUT YOU
* Have a current HR (Heavy Rigid) License - preferable
* Experience in the transport, logistics, or service industry would be favourable
* Demonstrated experience in management processes including associated administrative components
* Well-developed people skills, with solid time management
* Previous experience in people leadership
* KPI focused with the ability to perform under pressure
* Provide up-to-date driving records at the interview stage
* Able to successfully satisfy a pre-employment medical, drug, and alcohol testing
