About us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.
The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department’s relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability.
Purpose of role
Strategy and Architecture Practices is responsible for leading and managing the development and implementation of the portfolio governance framework, strategy, and architecture for the department ensuring alignment with the Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture (QGEA), as well as the department’s vision, objectives, and priorities. It provides expert advice, guidance, and support to senior executives, business units, and project teams on portfolio governance, strategy, and architecture matters.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, Strategy and Architecture you will contribute to the development and implementation of the department's ICT architecture strategy planning and investment needs. You will be responsible for the development of enterprise architecture artefacts, and contribute to the developing digital strategies, and roadmaps. You will collaborate closely with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective realisation of innovative ICT solutions and benefits that support the organisation's operations and capabilities.
Key requirements
Highly desirable requirements
* Significant experience as an Enterprise Architect in large, complex organisations.
* Experience in developing Enterprise Architecture with a focus on business value delivery and business value outcomes.
* Certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or similar industry recognised certification highly desirable.
* Experience as an ICT architect in either solution or technical architecture.
* Knowledge and/or experience in agile project methodologies.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
* Develop and coordinate architectural blueprints, roadmaps, and conduct feasibility studies and options analysis to support the departments digital transformation strategy and inform investment decisions.
* Provide high-level and well-informed advice, over a range of topics influencing the effectiveness of the organisation’s business and information systems through the implementation of innovation.
* Maintain a deep understanding of business and IT strategies, and contribute to the development and alignment of the IT strategy and initiatives to ensure alignment with business objectives and architectural principles.
* Contribute to developing artifacts for regulatory reporting and compliance requirements.
* Create and update enterprise design artefacts, including development and implementation of enterprise architecture and other business strategies.
* Develop, maintain and foster effective networks and liaisons, between internal teams, projects, other stakeholders to support the development and implementation of enterprise architecture.
* Ensure all work is developed and documented in line with the government enterprise architecture processes, and recommend standards and protocols needed to establish industry standard and best practice architecture.
* Assist in the identification, addressing and scheduling of issues, risks and solutions that may impact the successful implementation of business initiatives.
