Transport and Main Roads (Organisation site ( Management; Maritime Safety Queensland; Customer Services Safety & Regulation; Urangan Maritime Safety Queensland's (MSQ) Waterway Operations team is seeking a highly driven professional to deliver a challenging and diverse range of functions required of a Marine Officer Grade 3.The Urangan based position will draw on your experience to deliver MSQ's program of work through enforcement activities (including on water), investigation of marine incidents, compliance work, education and community engagement to promote safe vessel operation, safe waterways and sustainable management to meet community expectations.You will also prepare for and respond to maritime emergencies such as major pollution incidents, disaster events and assist in maintaining Aids to Navigation. If you have experience in the marine environment, conducting regulatory compliance activities and investigations, this could be your next challenging career. Are you self-motivated, able to work autonomously and within a small team, have well developed communication skills, analytical and thrive on a challenge, then you will be well positioned to deliver the management of regional marine safety initiatives as an integral member of the Gladstone South Water Ways Team. As a Marine Officer, you'll be required to work outside standard operating hours and on some weekends to deliver the program of works as required by the Area Manager. Also, Marine Officers may be required to participate in oil pollution emergencies both inter and intrastate, and undertake other travel required as part of a multifunctional team. You will be well supported in your role by management, through training and an inclusive work environment which promotes a healthy work/life balance. You will also have a level of flexibility to create your own time management to meet your needs whilst ensuring a customer focus is achieved. As a Marine Officer Grade 3, you will play an important role where some of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Working in partnership with stakeholders to embed their awareness of marine safety and environmental sustainability. Processing and recommending approval of applications and authorities. Conducting compliance activities through monitoring the condition and operation of vessels against legislative requirements. Lead educational engagements and compliance initiatives to promote safe vessel operation practices. Undertaking comprehensive investigations into non-compliance with relevant legislation. Managing projects under the direction of the Area Manager.
