The Role Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, if you are a passionate and driven safety leader, Laurent has a great opportunity for you to lead our safety team at our Braeside facility. In this role, you will be responsible for driving safety performance for the Group, ensuring compliance with safety processes, policies, and systems, and always looking for enhancements to minimise risk and drive safety performance. A key focus will be leading and coaching managers in Retail and Manufacturing to drive safety improvements, ensuring teams are inducted and trained, chairing the safety steering committee, and reporting to directors and the Board. This role would ideally suit a passionate and experienced safety leader looking to drive continuous improvement in this area. This is a small team, so it requires someone happy to be hands-on in delivering safety to the group. Key responsibilities: Safe Workplace Culture Manage compliance with company and regulatory OH&S standards. Review and develop safety systems with a focus on driving continuous improvement and cultural change. Provide practical, accurate, and current OH&S advice to the company. Analyse OH&S performance with a strategic approach to improvements. Deliver OH&S solutions and continually improve the safety culture and the processes that underpin it. Chair and coordinate OH&S Steering Committee meetings. Coordinate the activities involved in the design, implementation, and review of the occupational health and safety management system for the Laurent Group, recommending improvements where required. Achieve AS4801/ISO 45001 Certification for the manufacturing sites and maintain thereafter. OH&S Training Conduct safety training/inductions for production staff and contractors as required. Review and update training packages. Work with an external training provider to create SWP's for all manufacturing roles. Safety Audits Conduct internal audits on all areas of the safety system to identify any gaps. Conduct regular safety audits on all areas of the factory and retail locations to identify any issues that require corrective action and minimise/eliminate risk. Conduct external 3rd party safety audits and represent the company to external auditors and enforcement authorities. Return to Work Ensure compliance with return-to-work regulations. Report and investigate all workplace injuries, implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence in conjunction with line managers. Support workers as they recover at work with a focus on minimising cost and length of the claim, wherever possible. The Successful Candidate: Formal safety qualification required. Previous experience with safety management systems highly regarded. Understanding of and experience in return-to-work processes. Strong administration and excel skills. Proven ability to manage working relationships across all areas of the company. Strong planning and organisational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as good numerical ability. Ability to work under pressure. A team player.
