About the Role
The OHS Advisor will report to the business management team, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations. The primary focus is on preventing workplace accidents and injuries while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Evaluate the company's adherence to local, national, and industry-specific OHS regulations.
* Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards where employees are deployed.
* Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
* Identify potential hazards in manufacturing operations, such as machinery, chemicals, and manual handling risks.
* Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
* Provide OHS training to employees, supervisors, and managers on safety procedures and best practices.
* Promote a safety-first culture through awareness campaigns and safety incentives.
* Lead investigations into workplace accidents, ensuring proper reporting and compliance.
* Advise senior management on OHS policies and compliance requirements.
* Collaborate with HR, service, projects, and engineering teams to integrate safety into day-to-day operations.
* Communicate with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
* Recommend continuous improvements to OHS programs.
About You:
* Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (Cert IV, Diploma, Bachelors degree etc.).
* At least 5 years of experience managing OHS/WHS systems in industrial, manufacturing or engineering sectors.
* Experience with the preparation and delivery of safety and health related documentation and training.
* Experience in Workers Compensation claims management and return to work programs.
* Well-developed interpersonal and conflict management skills with the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
