Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Chlor-Alkali Process Technician (Shift Operator - Trainee Level 1) position is critical to ensuring ongoing business success. This position allows for the successful candidate to move from the Shift Operator - Trainee Level 1 to Shift Operator - Trainee Level 2 within 6 months and full Operator role within 18 months. Full on-the-job training and development is provided.
This role is a shift position, operating a 12-hour shift, working 4-days on (with two-day shifts - 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, followed by two-night shifts - 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM) with 4-days off.
We are looking for an enterprising, enthusiastic person who will enjoy being part of a small flexible team, takes pride in their operational knowledge, and has excellent communication and time management skills.
The core responsibilities of the Plant Operators role are:
* Brine Dechlorination, SRS Primary Brine Treatment, Secondary Brine Treatment, Sodium Hypochlorite Tank Farm, hydrochloric acid tank farm, and Caustic loadout;
* RO units, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, and air blowers;
* Operate the Brine Plant, Hypo loading, caustic loading, and utilities (excluding boilers) areas in an efficient and safe manner;
* Ensure the plant runs as per standard operating instructions, and within the parameters for safe & efficient operation;
* Perform all shift-based laboratory analytical tests;
* Treat Waste water.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has:
* Process Chemical Plant Operation qualification (PMA40116 - Certificate IV in Process Plant Technology) and/or experience working in a continuous process environment would be advantageous.
