This role demands a deep understanding of diverse animal species, a passion for learning, and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with researchers and staff.
The successful candidate will possess excellent organisational abilities, a strong work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail.Your responsibilities will include:Provide expert technical support for diverse experimental procedures, including the production of standard and genetically modified mouse lines and the care of non-standard rodent species.Ensure strict adherence to NHMRC, State Government, OGTR, and DAWR regulations, and contribute to the training and development of staff and students.Prioritise resource allocation, promote the AMS database, and work collaboratively with facility managers to optimise operations.Who we are looking forWe are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of animal research regulations, experimental techniques, and database management.
They will be passionate about animal welfare, collaborative, and capable of mentoring junior staff.You will also have:A degree in a relevant discipline or diploma in Applied Science (Animal Technology).Significant experience in operating at a senior level in a complex Biomedical Research Facility.Extensive practical experience with the care and use of animals in a research setting, with an excellent understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of the various breeding techniques used.This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
