JOB DESCRIPTION Kuehne + Nagel is looking for a dedicated Distribution Solutions Engineer to join our growing Contact Logistics Team. This position is based in Melbourne's western suburbs.
Your Role
We seek an outstanding Distribution Customer Solutions Engineer to work with our National Contract Logistics team. This position will be based in Derrimut, and the primary objective of the role will be to gain and retain customers by offering industry-leading solutions across all distribution services.
Your Responsibilities
Your primary objective will be to gain + retain customers by offering Transport industry-leading solutions across all distribution services.
You will be working with various internal+ external stakeholders while focusing on the following key objectives:
1. Collaborate closely with the Business Development team and customer to prepare compelling tenders, conduct thorough customer analysis, and navigate contract complexities with strategic insight.
2. Create robust cost and financial models to support customer proposals by developing and driving compelling distribution solutions from analysis to implementation.
3. Craft competitive pricing solutions for customer tenders, fostering strong client relationships and securing new business opportunities while nurturing existing partnerships.
4. To drive innovation, identifying new concepts and technology while also building on existing best practices.
5. To confidently present solutions to our customers as a key part of the tendering process.
6. To be part of the management team developing and designing strategic solutions for our customers, challenging the status quo, and constructively guiding customers where needed.
7. To develop strong partnerships with key vendors to optimise costing + service lead times.
8. To leverage available tools and systems whilst ensuring a high standard of compliance at all times.
9. Define and propose the best matching solution considering requirements vs. operational constraints.
10. Innovate and implement continuous improvement initiatives that elevate financial conditions and service levels across our customers and carriers.
11. Quick scan and value assessment of opportunities for Contract Logistics (incl. Go/NoGo decision) as well as feasibility evaluation of the requested Go-Live.
12. Set up a segment-specific database to include subcontractor prices, vehicle planning tools, fleet equipment (tractor and trailer types), specialist solutions (temperature control, fuel management, driver training), industry benchmarking, apply zero failure process and support of implementations or operations for re-engineering.
13. Work closely with the Divisional Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and insightful analysis of business trends and performance metrics, driving informed decision-making.

14. Have a minimum five years' experience in a local transport or 3PL organisation.
15. Have strong communication skills (verbal and written).
16. Have proficient Microsoft Excel skills.
