We’re looking for a capable Credit Assessor to join our in demand, high performing team of credit professionals who are dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences to our customers, no matter where they are or how they interact with us. In this pivotal role, you’ll make key risk-based decisions on loan applications, including Home Loans and Personal Loans. You’ll be the go-to expert, providing valuable insights and recommendations that shape our lending processes and credit policies. Beyond the numbers, you’ll forge strong relationships with our lending teams, offering expert advice on credit risk, responsible lending, and policy guidance. Key responsibilities include: Assessing all referred loan applications, making complex risk-based decisions within agreed service offerings Demonstrating compliance with policies and procedures to effectively operate within People First Bank's risk appetite set by the Board Exercising a personal Delegated Lending Authority with care and diligence and conduct assessments and formulate recommendations for loan applications Establishing and maintaining business relationships with our Lending Teams and other Stakeholders as required Providing advice and guidance on credit risk, lending, lending responsibly and policy to other Credit Assessors and Lending Teams Reviewing loan applications and complex scenarios with Lenders to structure loans, mitigate risks and to lend responsibly Collaborating on loan applications with lenders on the credit worthiness of an application Reviewing completed financial analysis for self-employed and complex structures that relate to loan applications Ensuring policy and sound lending practices are applied consistently to minimise exposure to lending losses. Providing feedback on policy and processes, and make suggestions for improvement Maintaining knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to your position including keeping up to date with communications and assigned learning What do I need? Ideally, you bring a wealth of experience in credit – whether in decision making roles or positions centred around credit risk assessment. Your expertise in assessing complex home loan and personal loan applications, including intricate structures and self-employed applicants, will be invaluable in this role. With your in-depth knowledge of lending and risk appetite, you'll excel at making informed, strategic decisions. What sets you apart is your proven track record of exercising a Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) of at least $2m in a Residential Loan Approval setting and a deep understanding of modern retail banking and lending practices.
