We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive WHS & Compliance Officer (Facilities Compliance Officer) to join our Properties, Facilities and Development (PF&D) team. This role is crucial in ensuring all maintenance activities and minor works on Curtin's land and buildings comply with operational guidelines, processes, and statutory obligations.
What You'll Do:
Compliance Management: Oversee contractor certifications and collaborate with teams to address maintenance incidents while developing operational systems for effective O&M activities.
Safety and Auditing: Conduct audits to ensure contractors meet safety standards and coordinate with stakeholders to minimise operational disruptions.
Permit and Approval Process: Manage permit approvals for maintenance and act as Permit Manager for tenant-related activities.
Collaboration: Liaise with the PF&D Commercial and Health and Safety teams to facilitate approvals for tenant maintenance and minor works.
About You:
Strong knowledge of facilities management and compliance regulations such as Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA), Work Health and Safety Regulations 2022 (WA) and subsidiary documents such as standards and Codes of Practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interpret and explain complex guidelines and procedures.
Attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
Experience in contractor management and auditing is preferred.
Work Requirements:
Valid White Card
A level of fitness commensurate with the requirements of the position
Ability to work outside normal working hours when required.
Ability to move between sites across the University campus and to travel to Curtin’s metropolitan area facilities and regional campuses as required.
As this is a permanent position, you will require current work rights in Australia. This position is based at our Curtin Bentley campus, candidates are expected to either be currently located in Perth, WA, or express a willingness to relocate. Please note: Relocation and sponsorship support will not be provided for this position.
