The Role
We are seeking an experienced Chef to oversee our kitchen operations and manage a team of food preparation staff. The ideal candidate will be able to create menus that cater to our guests' preferences while ensuring efficient food production.
This role involves assisting with prep work and cooking specialty dishes that require seasonal adjustments. Our Chef will need to select suitable ingredients, design menus based on availability, popularity, and demand, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
In addition to managing kitchen operations, the successful candidate will also need to:
* Prepare customer orders according to their requirements;
* Adhere to strict food safety protocols and ensure all kitchen staff follow suit;
* Maintain caution in potentially hazardous situations involving knives and hot surfaces;
* Select ingredients that enhance dish flavour;
* Create seasonal menu items and adapt to changing circumstances;
* Determine optimal food quantities for ordering and maintain stock levels through regular inventory checks;
* Stay up-to-date with culinary trends and industry developments to provide exceptional guest experiences;
* Work efficiently during peak periods, such as weekends and special events;
* Take on additional responsibilities, including cleaning duties, when necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
* Relevant qualifications or at least 3 years of experience as a chef in a similar establishment;
* A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a professional kitchen environment;
* The ability to curate menus, create new dishes, and oversee pre-planning requirements for food and supplies;
* Expertise in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes;
* Experience in managing kitchen staff and training them to meet health and safety standards;
* Knowledge of current market trends and the ability to adapt to changing demands;
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
We offer a competitive salary package ranging from $70,000 to $75,000 per year.
