Senior Cloud Infrastructure Automation Engineer – Government Contract (ICT Labour Hire)
Location: ACT, QLD, SA, VIC – Canberra preferred
Work Type: Contract – 12 Months (with up to 24-month extension)
Rate: $1420 Per Day, Inclusive Of Super (We Pay More. We Take Less Margin)
Bonus: $3000 payment if awarded the contract.

About the Opportunity
As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Automation Engineer (EL1 equivalent), you will play a critical role in automating and maintaining complex ICT infrastructure. You’ll be developing scripts, creating blueprints and workflows, and supporting the department’s VMware-based automation environment, helping streamline service delivery to millions of Australians.
Initial on-site presence is required for six weeks in one of the specified capital cities: Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, or Melbourne. After this period, a hybrid work arrangement (minimum two days in-office per week) will be considered. Please note that other locations will not be accepted.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop, support, and maintain infrastructure automation workflows using VMware Aria/vRealize Automation (vRA)
2. Design and implement blueprints to streamline daily infrastructure operations
3. Automate provisioning and lifecycle management of IaaS, PaaS, and XaaS
4. Write and maintain scripts in JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, and Python
5. Ensure compliance with departmental coding and security standards
6. Collaborate with business and ICT teams to deliver scalable and resilient infrastructure services
7. Monitor infrastructure performance, usage, and reliability
8. Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of ICT infrastructure components
Technical Skills Required
1. Proven experience with VMware Aria/vRealize Automation (vRA) and Orchestrator
2. Strong scripting skills: JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, Python
3. Delivery experience across IaaS, PaaS, and XaaS environments
4. Ability to support and evolve complex cloud infrastructure platforms
5. Familiarity with IT infrastructure monitoring and automation tools
What We're Looking For
1. Expertise across hybrid cloud environments and large-scale infrastructure automation
2. Experience provisioning and supporting modern enterprise platforms
3. Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles
4. Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
5. Must hold or be eligible to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance
Essential Criteria (SFIA-Aligned)
1. IT Infrastructure (Level 3): Manage infrastructure services and monitor performance/security
2. Programming / Software Development (Level 2): Write and test basic automation scripts
3. Systems Installation & Removal (Level 3): Install, configure, and maintain systems with documentation
