We are an energetic and dynamic team who strive for excellence at every level.We are currently recruiting for an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for all analytical results in the winery laboratory. The successful applicant will possess a complete knowledge of all winemaking processes, wine science passion, driven in quality management, thorough organisational skill set and problem-solving capability. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Planning and Organisation Meticulous processing and implementation of lab data results Record and collate lab data as required Scientifically interpret and apply results Assist in the development of winemaking plans to achieve product specifications and meet production schedules. Communication Provide, detail and communicate all analytical data, and correlate this information through to the winery operations Engage and provide informed opinions as a member of the winemaking tasting panel Communicate and liaise in your role as an important member in a strong winery team Always act with integrity, honesty and a value mindset. Delivery Make routine adjustments to wine in accordance with winemaking specifications Provide analytical operation of the bottling line in conjunction with the Bottling Line Manager and Winemakers. Research and Administration Understand, control and implement all laboratory records and data Generate cellar worksheets and job orders using Vinsight software Assist in the development and implementation of wine trials and innovations for product development Plan and implement key practical research associated with wine production Manage all laboratory consumable inventory OH&S Assist and maintain OH&S management processes. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE The successful applicant will possess: EducationRelevant science based technical qualifications. Professional Experience Practical laboratory experience with at least 3 vintages Excellent working knowledge of winery processes and safety requirements A thorough understanding of winemaking principles The ability and confidence to liaise with all winemakers Sound analytical skills, a strong history of trial work, experimental design and management Technical and Management Skills Ability to make clear, well-communicated decisions Excellent leadership skills Preferable experience as an operator of winery records systems (Vinsight systems preferred) Computer proficiency (Microsoft programs) First Aid Certificate Forklift license (preferred) The ability to direct and motivate others Personal and Interpersonal Skills Well-developed communication skills Highly organised administrative skills, with excellent time management Sound problem solving abilities Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills Thoroughness in approach This position is being offered on a permanent, full time basis and is available for immediate commencement.
