Ongoing role Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available) The Role The Senior Economist/Analyst will lead economic and statistical analysis to inform big picture policy reform opportunities. They will develop clear and compelling evidence-based recommendations for a broad range of policy issues affecting Victorian communities and businesses. The responsibilities of the Senior Economist / Analyst will include: Undertake economic and statistical analysis to provide expert advice on a range of policy issues. Develop fit-for-purpose modelling and data outputs within tight timeframes, meeting user specifications and expectations. Clearly communicate the process, results, and policy implications of modelling or data analysis to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Actively lead and participate in research and analysis work, as well as reporting of major strategic initiatives or issues relating to service delivery. The Team The position of Senior Economist/Analyst forms a part of the Data and Analytics branch within the Economic Policy, Projects and Coordination group. The Economic Policy, Projects and Coordination group brings together specialist skills in economics, modelling, data and evaluation to support all groups across the department to deliver on their priorities. Data and Analytics works with diverse clients across DJSIR by providing robust and timely quantitative analysis as well as improving quantitative capabilities to support policy priorities, such as housing affordability, liveability and jobs growth. About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: Statistical analysis: Demonstrated technical expertise in data manipulation and statistical analysis. Conceptual and analytical ability: Demonstrated expertise in conceptual thinking and sound analytical approaches to support decision making in the work area. Policy analysis: Demonstrated experience in analysing government policy using conceptual frameworks.
