In this role, you will play a vital role in the Parks team, carrying out a range of tasks to ensure Council's parks and open spaces are maintained to the highest standard.
This position is based out of our Northern Operations Centre in Corio.

Key responsibilities include: Role model and promote Council values in all aspects of duty.Maintain parks, reserves and sports surfaces and other designated areas in a condition that satisfies customer requirements.Operate and maintain plant and equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, hand/small ride on mowers, tractors, and related machinery, in an effective and efficient manner and in compliance with relevant laws/regulations, codes of practice and applicable directives.Follow all reasonable directions given by the Supervisor / Team Leader and other more senior staff in accordance with operational requirements which may include, but is not limited to, weeding, mowing, propagation, spraying of appropriate insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides to a regular or modified program as required.Display a positive personal contribution in assisting the Parks Unit in providing a customer focused service and commercially driven operation.About youTo be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in operating a range of Parks Maintenance plant and equipment in a parks environment.
You will demonstrate accountability and ownership as you'll be required to work autonomously and manage your own program of work.
In addition, you will have:
A current Victorian Driver's Licence and Medium Rigid Licence.Current Working with Children Check.Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and competence in the use of specific tools relevant to operator maintenance requirements.Developed skills in oral and written communication, proficient knowledge of modern technology devices.Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).Child Safety ResponsibilitiesWe are committed to being a child-safe organisation and have zero-tolerance for child abuse.
