The Role Joint Proof & Experimental Unit (JPEU) is an integral part of Explosive Ordnance Branch, Joint Logistics Command and is tasked to provide dynamic, static and environmental test and evaluation services to the Australian Defence Organisation. We are seeking a candidate to take on the role of an Explosives Ordnance Technician – Plant Operator to provide site preparation and remediation in support of test and evaluation activities including explosives ordnance testing, utilising heavy vehicles and plant equipment, at Proof Experimental Establishment (P&EE) Port Wakefield. The successful applicant will operate heavy vehicles and plant equipment including cranes, excavators, rollers and front end loaders and undertake minor maintenance of equipment. We are looking for a motivated individual who possesses good communication, interpersonal skills, is a team player and has a strong drive and commitment to achieving organisational goals. Employment at Port Wakefield includes a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance, $309.85 respectively per fortnight. Please note shortlisted candidates will be required to sit a practical assessment. About our Team P&EE Port Wakefield team carry out Test and Evaluation activities for a diverse range of different calibre weapons and explosive ordnance. They capture performance data of the munitions and provide that information on behalf of Defence. The Range Services Team is critical in this process as they provide the necessary infrastructure and resources for the set up and conduct of test and evaluation activities through static weapon mounted munitions, mobile weapon platforms and ballistic protections trials. The broader teams utilise systems such as ballistic tracking radar, high speed video cameras and associated equipment to track the projectiles, or capture data when explosive ordnance is dynamically fired or statically tested. Our Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Be able to work on an explosive ordnance test range and support the team in the construction of test and evaluation sites Participate in the manning of bushfire response and emergency response teams Possess strong communication skills Be able to interpret and comply with written instructions Be competent in working within a Quality Management System Comply with Work Health Safety Act and Regulations Work under limited direction or independently as required Effectively work with internal and external stakeholders (Explosive Ordnance Services, Data Acquisition Section, Instrumentation Section and Mechanical Workshops) Provide hands-on support required for the conduct of Test and Evaluation activities. The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU, to achieve business outcomes. Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Baseline Vetting" level. Mandatory Qualifications This technical position requires the individual to have obtained a recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 4 qualification in a relevant technical domain or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
