The Firm
A prominent mid-tier national law firm with offices across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide, is seeking a dedicated Associate or Senior Associate to join its Commercial Litigation and Insolvency Team. The Commercial Recovery & Insolvency team has earned a strong reputation for delivering strategic, high-quality advice to clients, including insolvency practitioners, major corporations, property developers, and financial institutions.
The Role
This role is ideal for a lawyer with a solid background in commercial litigation, debt recovery, and insolvency. The successful candidate will work closely with esteemed team members, including an Executive Partner, two other partners (one specialising in insolvency), two solicitors, and a paralegal. Key responsibilities include:
* Drafting court documents, such as statements of claim and enforcement documentation.
* Conducting legal research and preparing detailed advices.
* Engaging directly with clients, including drafting reports.
* Preparing evidence, including affidavits and witness statements.
* Preparing briefs for Counsel and documentation for interlocutory hearings, mediations, and appearances in various courts.
* Handling correspondence and file management.
Expertise in NSW court processes is essential, with Victorian court experience highly regarded.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
* 4-5+ years of post-admission experience in litigation, debt recovery, and insolvency.
* A commercial mindset and solid technical skills in commercial litigation and insolvency.
* Strong drafting skills, with attention to detail in preparing court and client documents.
* Excellent client communication skills and the ability to provide thoughtful, strategic advice.
* Proven ability to manage multiple matters efficiently, working both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
