THE LOCAL BUSINESS
Cruise Whitsundays is an award winning, innovative, and experienced maritime operator, based in Airlie Beach. Our experiences include day and overnight tours throughout the Whitsundays, as well as resort connection services. We are proud to offer Australia’s first underwater accommodation, Reefsuites, on The Great Barrier Reef and exclusive Reefsleep experience at Reefworld moored offshore at Hardy Reef, 40 nautical miles from Airlie Beach.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Our Pontoon Caretakers are an integral part of the team primarily responsible for the servicing and maintenance of ancillary vessels, machinery and equipment on our Hardy Reef pontoons ensuring the best facilities for our day and overnight guests. A unique opportunity to live and work on the Great Barrier Reef where together with the hospitality team, you will share special places and create lasting memories.
This will be a full time position on a lifestyle roster, 7 days on/ 7 days off, at our Reefworld Pontoon located on the Outer Great Barrier Reef departing from Airlie Beach, QLD. Shared accommodation and meals provided whilst on-duty at the Reefworld Pontoon.
Your days might include:
1. Ensuring exceptional presentation of the Pontoons and Auxiliary vessels;
2. Vessel handling and compliance with Safety Management Systems;
3. Maintenance and operation of pontoon generators and engines;
4. General pontoon operational tasks;
5. Undertaking crew training including in-water training and vessel inductions;
6. Ensuring maintenance is undertaken on board and defects are recorded;
7. Conducting rescue and lookout duties for guests;
8. Customer service and product delivery working closely with the hospitality team.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful you will be a team player with a demonstrated positive “can-do” attitude, be comfortable living and working on water for extended periods of time (7/7 day full time roster). You will have previous deckhand experience, a general aptitude for maintenance and engineering, and ability to deliver professional customer service. You will have think on your feet and be a natural creative problem solver.
Requirements
9. Hold a minimum AMSA accredited Coxswains (Open); or Master <24 and a MED 2/3 ticket advantageous;
10. Possess a Maritime Radio Operator's Licence;
11. HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid and HLTAID015 - CPR & Apply Oxygen;
12. Responsible Service of Alcohol and Blue Card (Working with Children's Check);
13. Ability to manage time and have strong organisational skills;
14. National Police Check
15. Flexibility to work a remote 7/7 roster over weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
