About the Role
As the Chief Health Officer (Medical Officer 6) in the Chief Health Officer Division, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team at the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
You will support the Executive in providing advice to the Australian Government and contribute to the department's leadership, management, and strategic direction setting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and develop major government and departmental initiatives
* Participate in departmental and whole-of-government forums
* Contribute to corporate leadership and capability development
* Lead the professional development of medical officers
About You:
We are seeking an acknowledged leader in their chosen medical specialty with substantial clinical experience.
You should have a comprehensive understanding of Australia's healthcare system, including Commonwealth and state/territory interactions, and a good appreciation of future national healthcare challenges.
Your ability to engage senior stakeholders and broker decisions through collaboration and consensus will be complemented by political sensitivity and high-level policy advisory and leadership skills.
