As a Construction Director, you will be responsible for supporting Construction, Project, Engineering and Discipline Managers, ensuring continuous construction input into all phases of the project timeline, schedule and estimating including developing the packaging of design to suit Construction, Commissioning and schedule needs recognizing any specific operational or shutdown constraints.Will have a high degree of autonomy operating within general management direction and functional policies. Develops and oversees objectives, policies and procedures.

What you’ll do
We’re looking for a Construction Director to join our Perth team.
The role responsibilities include:
1. Provide Construction input and technical expertise on all construction related activities to the engineering and design process.
2. Develop Construction Execution Strategy for assigned scope.
3. Develop organization charts and resource plans for follow on phases.
4. Implement and manage the scope wide constructability program across multiple offices and locations, including chairing of constructability reviews and production of reports.
5. Lead construction input into engineering development at local and global engineering centers.
6. Implement Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) processes for assigned scope that is integrated with the wider Project process and system.
7. Drive the “right to left” delivery model and ensuring all design has sufficient construction input.
8. Implement project wide construction readiness process in conjunction with the wider construction function. Ensure Execution plan gate criteria readiness and demonstration of mitigation to execution risks.
9. Work with Construction, Contracts and Procurement teams to develop contracting strategy, undertake capability assessments, prequalification procedures, development of tender lists and Tender submission reviews.
10. Develop modularization / pre-assembly approach and as required undertake Modularization studies and pre-assembly opportunities including appropriateness of Pre-assembly versus conventional build.
11. Complies with all applicable in country statutory, legal and specific Client requirements and is involved with the HSE Manager in the preparation of the main Construction Health and Safety plan.Ensures that all proposed site construction methods and procedures are safe and adequate in all respect.
12. Ensure that the company’s construction methods, procedures and practices are in all respects, particularly those relating to quality assurance, safety, personnel and industrial relations, properly complied with.
13. Assesses Construction risks and construction logistics at every stage of design and inputs into HAZID and HAZCON studies.
14. Work with Company SMEs to address transportation logistics and crane studies for key lifts.
15. Implementation of Company HSE Policy & Plan relating to the Project and in particular, Contractor compliance and ensure safe, efficient and structured delivery of all construction activities in accordance with the Project schedule.
16. Provide construction input to estimating and develop construction estimates / pricing to support the development of the TIC estimates.
17. Review engineering deliverables to ensure that constructability issues are incorporated.
18. Provide development into HSSE deliverables and planning.
19. Engage with external stakeholders necessary to develop the construction execution methodology.
20. Attend critical engineering reviews such as Model Reviews / Layout reviews etc.
21. Provide input to project risk management process and risk registers.
22. With the Completions and Commissioning team develop processes and procedures for the subsequent phases including systemization, start up sequencing.
23. Develop temporary facilities plan including estimates for all required facilities and lay down in assigned scope and develop scaffolding and temporary access plans for assigned scope as well as together with Logistics team develop the required logistics plans to support the overall execution strategy.
What you’ll have
24. University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.20+ years relevant experience, including project management experience, and recognized as a functional expert and thought leader, providing consultation to others.
25. Relevant years of experience as a Construction Director in EPC-EPCM projects in Oil and Gas or Chemicals or Mining.
26. Proficient in MS Office suite of tools. Expert understanding of broader systems, processes and tools related to field.Able to teach and help others. May be involved in the development of new systems, processes and tools.
27. Leadership skills, Team Player, Adaptable, open towards learning and development, person of integrity.
28. Job Specific Knowledge: Typically has indirect as well as direct reports.Makes decisions as to the selection, training, discipline and remuneration of staff. Assigns policy framework, long-term mission and vision.Ability to communicate effectively with the Stakeholders involved in the Project both verbally & in writing. Methodical work ethic; ensuring consistency in output. Capable of working independently.Fully conversant with Project Management Systems with extensive knowledge of Project Hook Up/Construction/Commissioning practices and procedures.Staff management experience (knowledge transfer).Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.Analytical and problem-solving skills.Extensive knowledge of the construction process, its implementation and management.Ability to deliver training to personnel within the construction team – commitment to develop team members.Delivery focused and committed to achievement of project/company goals.
29. Develops and oversees implementation of strategic programs and policies for their groups, which will have impact on the overall organization; Ability to manage multiple complex projects through others; Works frequently with executive management on significant matters influencing the organization’s business results, which typically include global strategies.
30. Effectively communicate and present complex proposals and reports to executive level management and/or the Board. Participative management style with a cooperative team approach.Proven leadership skills in multi-cultural/national environments.
