Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee Daily Accounting Operations: Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting tasks, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions, ensuring smooth and accurate financial operations.
* Project Finance Management: Take the lead in managing financial processes for ongoing construction projects, including the processing of progress claims, managing retentions, and ensuring financial compliance.
* Payment Processing: Oversee weekly payment runs, ensuring accurate and timely payments to suppliers, staff payroll, and superannuation contributions, through the accounting software.
* Cash Flow Management & Forecasting: Contribute to cash flow forecasting, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information to support the company's financial goals and policies.
* Internal Reconciliation: Supervise the reconciliation of internal accounts, ensuring all balances are accurate, discrepancies are addressed promptly, and financial records are maintained to a high standard.
* ABN & GST Processing: Manage the processing of ABN details for suppliers and contractors and ensure proper handling of GST in line with Australian tax regulations.
Experience & Skills:
* Chartered Accountant qualification (CA or equivalent), with a strong foundation in accounting and finance.
* 2+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role, ideally within the construction industry (but we’re open to candidates from other sectors with transferable skills).
* A high level of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Proactive, solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative and team-oriented work culture.
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferably with CA certification).
