HAYS Construction NQ are seeking a talented HSEQ Officer to join a Cairns-based client on a 10-month contract!Your new company Hays Construction NQ are pleased to represent a leading Far North QLD civil contracting business with the recruitment of a Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Officer (HSEQ). Due to an increase in workload and projected business expansion, they are currently seeking an experienced and self-motivated HSEQ Officer to join their dedicated team. This is a fixed-term contract role (10-month contract). Your new role As the HSEQ Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of health, safety, environment, and quality systems within the company. You will maintain and enhance the integrated management system, ensuring it meets current legislative and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include conducting regular audits, assisting with project-specific management plans, and supporting the development of HSEQ training programs. You will also ensure all incidents, near misses, and hazards are reported and investigated promptly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus. What you'll need to succeed Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable) Experience in the civil construction industry. Strong understanding of WHS legislation and FSC-compliant systems. Familiarity with ISO standards (9001:2015, 45001:2018, 14001:2016). Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Procore, 1Breadcrumb, and iAuditor software and tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Proactive and diligent approach to work. Current driver's licence, General Safety Induction (White Card), and First Aid certificate. Auditor / Lead Auditor training and relevant risk management and safety investigation certifications are desirable.
