So, what's the role?
As our HR/Payroll Officer, you will coordinate and manage all end-to-end recruitment activities and oversee the fortnightly payroll for the Group. Your responsibilities will include liaising with the operations team on manning requirements, maintaining the integrity of HR systems, and managing employee documentation for site access. You will provide support and advice on workplace matters, including disciplinary actions and performance management, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Building strong relationships with employees, supervisors, and managers will be key to your success in this role.
Here’s what a typical day in the role might look like:
1. Coordinate and manage all end-to-end recruitment activities for the Group.
2. Oversee the end-to-end fortnightly payroll for the Group.
3. Continuously liaise with the operations team on manning requirements and coordinate site access across various mine sites.
4. Maintain the integrity of HR systems, ensuring accurate, current, confidential, and secure data.
5. Maintain all employee documentation to assist operations with site access requirements.
6. Issue employment-related contracts, such as Letters of Offer and Variations.
7. Act as the primary point of contact for all workplace matters, including disciplinary action, performance management, terminations, and entitlement queries.
8. Ensure HR and payroll processes comply with relevant industry regulations, legislation, and company policies.
9. Assist with marketing efforts, including maintaining websites and social media channels as needed.

1. You have experience in generalist HR positions, preferably within the mining or similar industries.
2. You’re flexible, resilient, and approach tasks and responsibilities head-on with a practical mindset.
3. You can handle employee and industrial relations matters and interpret awards and legislation.
4. You have excellent conflict resolution and communication skills that adapt across all levels of the business.
5. You are self-motivated, show initiative, and are willing to work autonomously.
6. You have a strong understanding of the importance of providing operational HR support within a contract mining business.
7. You understand the nuances of working with other people and appreciate a structured approach.
8. Attention to detail and a positive, professional attitude are essential.
9. Familiarity with payroll functions will be an advantage.
