An exciting opportunity is now available for an enthusiastic Senior Dental Assistant to be a part of the clinical team within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service Oral Health Services on a Permanent full-time basis.
The purpose of this role is to provide clinical leadership as well as functional management, of dental assistants (CA3) reporting to the position to ensure performance objectives are met.
What we are looking for?
1. Demonstrated high level of skill and knowledge in all aspects of dental assisting, including infection control, and clinical support for all relevant age groups.
2. Ability to co-ordinate the activities of the Dental Assistant team ensuring that clinical practices are of a high standard, client focused and achieving optimal efficiencies.
3. Demonstrated high level ability to prioritise and organise work load.
4. High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage subordinate staff in line with quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour and demonstrated commitment to their implementation.
6. Ability to be adaptable in a changing environment and positively approaching problems and challenges within the team
Generous remuneration package value up to $90,110 p.a. comprising:
7. Salary range of $2831.10 to $3027.20 p.f. (CA4)
8. Annual leave with 17.5% loading

Requirements
10. A Certificate III in Dental Assisting is mandatory for the CA4 position, however, should the Certificate III not be completed, a candidate may still be considered for the role if they meet the criteria above and have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Dental Assistant. In this case, appointment will be at the CA2 classification in the Dental Assistant Training position until successful completion of the qualification within 12 months of appointment.

Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
12. Possession of class C drivers' licence.
13. Undertake training and travel associated within Townsville Hospital and Health Service Policy.
14. Working across the different clinics in the Townsville region is a requirement of this role and the potential of an overnight travel to our Hughenden, Richmond and Palm Island clinics.
15. This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
