VisionBerkeley Life Centre (BLC) is a missional church seeking to minister to the marginalised community in and around Berkeley. Informed always by God's word and a strong evangelistic focus, BLC constantly seeks to adapt, be flexible, and change structures and patterns of ministry to reach and serve the community of Berkeley with the good news of salvation through Jesus.BLC operates from a church site in Kelly St Berkeley in addition to an Op Shop 'Second Chance Clothing' adjacent to Berkeley shops. This drop-in location is central to the ministries of BLC as a meeting point for church and community. BLC staff also work in several local schools.Applications are invited for the full-time position of Lead Pastor of BLC.Key Responsibilities:Provide effective Christ-like leadership over the ministry team (both staff and volunteers).With the management Committee and ENC, work to build a sustainable finance base for the ministry of the church plant/parish and develop plans for the provision of suitable long-term facilities/buildings for the ministry.Develop and build the BLC staff team to effectively minister and execute the agreed ministry vision.Ensuring administrative and compliance requirements for the ministries are fulfilled.Qualifications & ExperienceTheological training (at least Diploma level) from an approved training college.5 years of ministry experience in churches or para-church organizations.Experience of ministry in marginalized communities.Authorization or licensing by the Archbishop of Sydney.Skills & CapabilitiesA desire to help, mentor, and coach others.A desire for all people (women, men, children, youth) to come to know Jesus.A love for the people in a marginalised community like Berkeley and an awareness of the various challenges that life and the community presents.Ability to teach God's word accurately and effectively.The ability to develop and lead a team and train local volunteers to become local leaders in various ministries.Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and network with a range of people.Capacity to handle and deal with conflict in a constructive Christ-like way.Accurate self-awareness and insight into your own weaknesses & honesty with self.An ability to cope with the pressures the role brings and the ability to know when to seek support from others.Capacity to personally reflect on how you are relating with others and how your communication may be interpreted by others and to develop and grow personally and professionally.Biblical wisdom and empathy.Demonstrate a maturity that can convey a sense of security to those you interact with.RemunerationSalary package is based on the ENC and Sydney Diocese Recommended Remuneration Guidelines (available on request) and reflective of the successful candidate's training, qualifications, and experience.Given the role requires external funding to be full-time, if funding is not sufficient to sustain a full-time lead pastor, hours and days might need to be reduced. Part of the role will be working with the management committee and ENC to promote the ministry and build external partnerships with individuals, churches, and grant-making organizations to generate prayerful and financial support for BLC.BLC is a ministry in the Sydney Diocese under the oversight and governance of Evangelism and New Churches. All staff at BLC are employed by ENC.
