Position Description:The Melbourne Sports Institute is seeking an experienced and specialised Head Development Basketball Coach to join the successful sports program of an Inner South-East Grammar School.As the Head Development Basketball Coach, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Coach in managing and developing basketball players across various year levels, with a focus on skill development, game sense, and supporting player growth for competition matches.Responsibilities: Assist the Head Coach in overseeing and coaching basketball teams for students in Year 7 A, Inter A, and 1st Boys and Girls.Support the Head Coach in all training sessions and match-day activities throughout the school year during Terms 1, 2, 3, and 4.Help develop and implement training plans, match strategies, and player development programs in collaboration with the Head Coach.Work closely with school staff, students, and sports department heads to promote the basketball programme.Foster a positive and supportive environment for players to develop their skills and teamwork.Scheduled Hours: Boys: Terms 1 and 4Girls: Terms 2 and 3Match Days:Year 7: Tuesdays, 12:45pm - 3:30/4:45pmYear 8/9: Thursdays, 12:45pm - 3:30/4:45pmYear 10-12: Wednesdays, 12:45pm – 3.30/4.45pmTraining: Mondays, 7:00am - 8:30amSelection Criteria: Demonstrated coaching experience and Basketball accreditation (minimum Basketball Australia Level 1 or equivalent).Strong understanding of basketball, player development, and match strategy.Ability to work effectively with the Head Coach, supporting their leadership and direction.Strong communication skills for engaging with students, staff, and heads of sport.Passion for coaching and developing young athletes.Required Qualifications: Working with Children Check (Employee Card)Minimum Basketball Australia Level 1 or equivalent coaching accreditationLevel 2 First Aid (or willingness to obtain)This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated basketball coach to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic school sports environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
