Greatland is a leading new Australian Gold-Copper producer, having recently acquired the iconic Telfer mine and the world-class Havieron gold-copper project in the Paterson region in Western Australia. Greatland is listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market and is planning to list on the ASX in 2025.
As we continue to grow our business and team, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Engineer- Sustaining Capital to join our team on a fulltime basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in our journey to becoming a leading ASX gold-copper producer and contribute to our future success.
About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a gold-copper mine located in the Paterson Province of the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. It includes both open-pit and underground mining operations, as well as the operation of Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since beginning gold production in 1975, Telfer has produced more than 15Moz of gold to date.
Our Telfer operations offer a fly-in fly-out work arrangement, providing our workforce with a healthy work-life balance. Onsite, we offer a broad range of recreational activities, including a recently refurbished gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room, and both dry and wet mess facilities.
In addition to Telfer, Greatland owns 100% of the Havieron gold-copper, a world-class development project with a multi-decade mine life, located 45km west of Telfer that will utilise the existing Telfer infrastructure to process Havieron ore, together with a significant exploration portfolio in the region surrounding Telfer.
The Opportunity
As the Senior Project Engineer - Sustaining Capital, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our projects by delivering innovative and high-impact solutions across structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation domains.
You’ll lead projects that are not only crucial to our operations but also bring tangible value to the business, ensuring they’re delivered safely, on time, under budget, and in compliance with the highest industry standards.
Please note: 8 Days On 6 days off, FIFO from Perth, however roster flexibility is required for project work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver value-add projects in structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation areas.
* Ensure the safe, on-time, under-budget delivery of projects, complying with end-user requirements and relevant Greatland & Australian Standards.
* Manage project contracts and contractors in alignment with Greatland standards.
* Engage stakeholders actively to clarify and refine project objectives.
* Coordinate project scope, design, and engineering, while developing key project delivery documents.
* Direct and support construction vendors to ensure project success.
* Control project costs through diligent project management and cost control techniques.
* Oversee safety compliance on all projects, ensuring adherence to safe work practices and regulatory requirements.
* Provide leadership in safety culture through visible engagement, audits, and safety interactions.
* Ensure up-to-date forecasting and accurate capital expenditure requests for all projects.
* Manage key relationships with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
About You
The ideal candidate for the Senior Project Engineer - Sustaining Capital role is an individual who has a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and project management experience in a mining or industrial setting.
Experience, skills & knowledge:
* Numerous years’ experience in mineral processing, non-process infrastructure, mining infrastructure.
* Project management of Brownfield site projects including design review, procurement, construction management, quality assurance, scheduling and cost control.
* Exposure to managing construction contracts and contractors.
* Good working knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to the design and installation of civil, structural, mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
* Strong commitment to safety leadership, with experience in conducting risk assessments, implementing safe work systems, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and statutory requirements.
* Computer skills in MS Office, Project, SAP and Navisworks or Similar.
* Managing design contracts and consultants – Desirable.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor Degree in Engineering - preferred;
* Qualification in Engineering or Project Management – essential.
* Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Relations (WA) Safety Statutory Supervisor certification – preferred.
