U-Go Mobility is looking for Yardpeople for our newest Bus Depot in Sydenham to keep the community moving by delivering Southwest Link rail replacement bus service during the upgrade of the T3 Sydenham to Bankstown rail line for the Sydney Metro project.
About the role
The Yardperson is primarily responsible for running a smooth operation of the bus fleet in and out of the depot while managing requirements from the maintenance team.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure that the drivers are reporting for their shifts on time, departing the depot accordingly to their scheduled departure time and escalating to the Operations Control Centre (OCC) any failures whilst supporting the delivery of contractual requirements and customer expectation.
2. Work with the depot management team and drivers to ensure all buses depart the depot on time.
3. Work in collaboration with the Service Delivery Manager and Leading Hand to ensure the entire fleet is compliant with the BOAS accreditation and vehicle presentation standards, all pre-departure checks are completed on time and the vehicle defective procedure is followed by the Bus Drivers.
4. Check buses and report unusual high usage oil and coolant levels to the Leading Hand.
5. Escalate any matters requiring attention to OCC and collect mobile two-way.
6. Replace/change buses that have defects or issues identified by Bus Drivers and which make them unserviceable.
7. In line with the parking plan, assist drivers with parking instructions upon their return to the depot operations.
8. Other tasks as required, including but not limited to, any tasks requested to ensure the smooth operation of the depot and training drivers on vehicle requirements.
What you will need to succeed
1. Proven computer literacy, including strong knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based rostering systems.
2. Valid NSW Driver’s MR License - or higher.
3. Willingness to undergo a Pre-Employment check including Medical, Police Check and Working with Children Check.
4. Good planning and problem-solving skills with an ability to prioritize work and competing demands.
5. Good verbal communication, including the ability to explain and train concepts to the frontline workforce.
6. Good written communication and ability to complete forms and maintain documentation accurately.
7. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with Depot Manager, Workshop, and Drivers.
8. Ability to escalate any matters affecting the depot.
