We now have an exciting opportunity for a Library Assistant to join our team at the Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health in Mt Isa.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will enhance client support by addressing library service inquiries, assisting with access to resources and online tools, and advising on referencing and research skills. Additionally, you will support academic success by offering guidance on academic writing, referencing, and literature reviews for both students and staff. Promoting digital and information literacy will be key, as you deliver training on library resources, information technologies, and skills essential for effective resource use. You will ensure the availability of resources and smooth operations by overseeing library opening and closing procedures, managing records, and maintaining library material.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Knowledge to advise and assist clients to locate and use a range of print and electronic information resources and services and knowledge to assist clients with the use of information and communication technologies including the operation of standard personal computing hardware, software and mobile devices.
* Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and deliver quality, responsive client centred services and support to a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Ability to apply and adapt information, communication and learning technologies for the delivery of library and information services; and assist clients in the use of these technologies.
* Demonstrated experience in help desk and/or information/reference consultations, preferably in an academic or research library.
* Sound knowledge of computing systems, including experience with MS Office Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook.

The Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health (MCRRH) is a federally funded nationally networked University Department of Rural Health with additional funded vertical programs and key performance indicators set by the Department of Health specifically focused on health workforce. Located in Mount Isa with nodes in Cloncurry and Longreach, MCRRH serves the large geographic region of outback northern Queensland. As a small academic department with a broad range of responsibilities within the rural and remote health and education sector, our mission is to lead excellence in remote, rural and Indigenous health in outback Queensland.
