Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.About Department The Health Information Service Department supports the delivery of Health Information Management to CGHS.This is achieved through:Support to the clinical areas to meet high quality documentation standards.Support to clinical areas to ensure quality patient data in accordance with Department of Health Legislation and Policy and Instruction.Provision of patient information required by external agencies.Coding of each patient episode to reflect the services of the hospital delivered.Ensuring compliance with Privacy Laws and Freedom of Information requirements.About the Role This Health Information Manager Data Integrity & Reporting position will:Manage and coordinate clinical coding within Central Gippsland Health Service in accordance with The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, current version Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and the Australian and Victorian Coding Standards.Facilitate the capturing of quality patient information/data in appropriate Systems to support statutory reporting. This may include oversight of data entry, staff training, data evaluation, analysis and internal specification requirements.Manage statutory minimum dataset submission and reporting.Duties Ensure clinical coding is consistent with current ICD-10-AM coding standards and Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and the Australian & Victorian Coding Standards. Clarifying inconsistent, ambiguous or non-specific information in clinical documentation with applicable clinical staff.Maintain a professional standard and undertake continuing education and professional development as a Clinical Coder and Health Information Manager, including knowledge of case mix, hospital data requirements, hospital policy and procedure.Manage and coordinate clinical coding team quality assessment to ensure quality coding, with continuous improvement in coding accuracy and health data validity.Timely error correction actions and data integrity processes are compliant with Dept of Health and CGH guidelines and procedures, delivering optimised outcomes.Assessment and evaluation of data, identifying trends, issues and/or rejections.
