About the role This opportunity presents a demanding yet deeply fulfilling prospect for you to make a positive change in the lives of people with disability. We are currently recruiting for our Lifestyle and Supported Independent Living (SIL) programs. SIL is supporting people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living assistance. You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster. Lifestyle supports are one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in their homes or the community, with travel between clients and working short, split shifts required. Key Responsibilities Ability to work sleepover shifts is essential for SIL only Assist clients with complex needs, demonstrating calmness and empathy. Utilise de-escalation techniques to ensure a supportive environment. Implement person-centred active support and behaviour support plans, advocating for client choice and participation in care and decision-making while ensuring safety and compliance in all interaction Support clients in a safe and compliant manner, empowering them to discover their strengths, build independence, and actively engage with their community to foster a sense of belonging Offer opportunities for choice, self-expression, and active involvement across all facets of our daily care services Provide support with personal care tasks, such as bathing and dressing Skills & Experience Experience working with complex disability support needs including non-verbal, escalations and behaviours of concerns will be highly regarded. Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates as per NDIS requirements A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of people with disabilities The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their personalised support plan To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process. Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, NDIS and Working with Children Checks (where relevant to the role).
