Opportunity to work in a newly created team and department Permanent full-time opportunity, 35hrs/week Based in Parramatta, flexible working supported Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $106,025 to $117,363 + super (Clerk Grade 7/8) Our Governance & Risk branch within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking to appoint an Information Access and Privacy Officer to join the team dedicated to upholding the department's commitment to privacy principles and public access to information. About the role The Information Access and Privacy Officer provides advice and support to the department and network of agencies on information access and privacy issues. You will make decisions on applications for access to information under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) on a variety of topics and provide advice on privacy matters under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act). In your role, you will also be supporting and providing advice on other statutory, reporting and compliance functions relating to privacy and information access, in addition to helping to develop and improve internal processes and procedures. You may also be involved with the delivery of training to ensure staff are aware of their obligations for both access to information and privacy. About You To be successful in this role, you will need to have prior experience interpreting and providing advice on legislation. Working knowledge and experience in the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, and the Health Records and Health Records Act 2002 is preferred, but not essential for the role. You will have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to provide trusted advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation. You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to engage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will have advanced organisational skills and be able to work independently to deliver multiple priorities to meet critical deadlines. Key knowledge and experience Demonstrated experience working in an environment requiring interpretation and advice on legislation Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities and meet statutory or other critical deadlines Proven experience delivering exceptional service and/or advice to internal and external stakeholders Working knowledge and experience in the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, and/or the Health Records and Health Records Act 2002 (preferred).
