TRUCK DRIVER
Location: Dubbo, NSW 2830
Tenure: Full-time, Permanent
Comprehensive salary package from $65,835 to $74,000 PA (plus superannuation)
Required Qualification:
• AQF Certificate II in relevant field or higher equivalent
• At least 2 years recent and relevant work experience
Position Summary:
On behalf of our client, Global Skilled Employment Services is looking for a skilled and experienced Industrial Truck Driver(s) who can drive a heavy truck or similar heavy vehicles for loading livestock and transporting them safely from one location to another, unloading them at their destination.
Duties of the position will include, but not limited to:
• handling livestock (predominantly cattle and sheep) - loading and unloading them in a variety of settings including on-farm, at saleyards and abattoirs
• driving heavy combination vehicles, including hooking and unhooking of trailers from trucks and manoeuvring into place
• safely carting livestock between destinations
• undertake regular inspections of trucks, identifying and reporting on any equipment not operating properly undertaking regular basic maintenance of trucks
• manoeuvring vehicles into position for loading and unloading
• loading and unloading vehicles using lifting and tipping devices
• observing safety requirements when loading and unloading vehicles
• making regular quality checks of vehicles to ensure they can be driven safely
• estimating weights to comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight
• ensuring goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and damage
• verifying loading documents, checking condition of goods and obtaining certification of deliveries
Other preferred skills:
• strong animal handing skills and experience
• a minimum of two year’s experience driving heavy combination vehicles
• a positive, can-do attitude
• strong communication skills
• the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
• a positive approach to change
• basic mechanical knowledge and a practical ability to solve problems
