The Wagga RSL Club The Wagga RSL Club is a leading hospitality and community venue with a strong membership base exceeding 34,000. Primary Purpose of the Role The General Manager, will lead and oversee all aspects of the Club's operations, working closely with a skilled, supportive management team and a dynamic and dedicated Board of Directors. The role will include ensuring financial sustainability, operational excellence, compliance, and fostering a positive workplace culture while driving strategic growth and member engagement.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: · Develop and execute strategies in collaboration with the Board to position the Club for long-term success.
· Identify and capitalise on opportunities for growth and innovation.
· Provide regular, timely and accurate reporting and recommendations to the Board on operational and strategic matters.
Operational Oversight: · Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure service excellence and financial sustainability.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
· Develop and manage annual budgets, monitoring performance and ensuring accountability.
Data-Driven Decision Making · Implement and utilise advanced analytics tools and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operations, member behaviour, and financial performance.
· Use data insights to improve decision-making in areas like gaming optimisation, targeted marketing campaigns, membership engagement strategies, and revenue growth initiatives.
· Regularly review and analyse operational metrics to ensure alignment with strategic goals and identify areas for improvement or innovation.
Innovation and Technology · Drive the adoption and integration of cutting-edge technologies to enhance the Club's operations and member experiences.
· Oversee the implementation of modern customer engagement platforms, such as mobile apps, self-service kiosks, or advanced loyalty programs.
· Identify opportunities for digital transformation in areas like gaming, food and beverage operations, and back-office functions, ensuring the Club stays competitive in the evolving hospitality landscape.
People and Culture · Lead, mentor, and develop a well-formed, multidisciplinary management team.
· Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
· Drive workforce planning, organisational design, and succession planning initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement · Build strong relationships with the Board, staff, members, and community stakeholders.
· Represent the organisation in the community and the industry with key external stakeholders.
· Champion diversity, inclusion, and community engagement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience Knowledge of Hospitality Trends Demonstrated expertise in staying ahead of industry trends in gaming technology, food and beverage offerings, and experiential member engagement. Understand evolving consumer expectations, such as preferences for personalised services, sustainability initiatives, and diverse culinary experiences. · Proven ability to implement forward-thinking strategies that reflect changes in market dynamics and industry regulations.
Stakeholder Management Skills · Develop and nurture relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including staff, Board members, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and community leaders.
· Effectively communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders to drive alignment and achieve organisational objectives.
· Represent the organisation professionally at commemorative events, in public forums and industry events, acting as a key advocate for the Club's vision and mission.
Proven executive leadership in clubs, hospitality, or a similar multifaceted environment, with demonstrated operational knowledge in Gaming, HR and / or Finance. Strong understanding of compliance, corporate governance, and financial management. Demonstrated ability to lead and grow multidisciplinary teams. Experience in project management, marketing, and community engagement. Current RSA and ARCG qualifications (or willingness to obtain). Key Competencies Strategic vision and innovative thinking.
