Group Taxation Advisor – Sustainability & Renewables Our client is a key player in the Australian Sustainability & Renewables sector. They are making a real positive impact on the community and working towards the Australian net-zero plan. Due to movements within the team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Group Tax Advisor to join the team based in Sydney. They team is close-knit and prioritise teamwork and positive, trusting working relationships. Reporting to the Head of Tax, the key purpose of your role is to be responsible for the group’s tax compliance obligations to ensure those obligations are satisfied in a manner reflective of the group’s tax risk management framework. In addition, the role will work with the other members of the tax team to provide tax advice across all business units covering both direct and indirect taxes. Key Accountabilities: Taxation Compliance Take ownership and responsibility for the corporate tax compliance obligations (direct and indirect) across the group, including: Working collaboratively both within the tax team, and with decentralised finance teams across business units to coordinate and manage those obligations; Prepare high quality, technically accurate and robust workpapers and returns; Prepare workpapers and returns in a timely manner to ensure appropriate time for internal and (where applicable) external review; Ensure timely and accurate lodgement of all returns; Take ownership of tax effect accounting requirements and associated reporting obligations for all companies; Taxation Advisory Work with the tax team to partner with business units to support and initiate tax planning initiatives reflective of their commercial needs Active in monitoring the taxation environment for changes that will impact the group; Confidence in working with the business in a collaborative manner and continue promoting the tax function as a “Trusted Advisor” to the Group; Taxation Governance Support the overall tax function in: Complying with its Tax Risk Management Framework; Assisting with ATO queries; Continually enhancing process and procedures including the use of tax software and analytic tools; Capabilities/Experience & Qualifications of the successful candidate: CPA/Chartered Accountant and possibly studying towards Masters of Tax; Solid Australian tax knowledge (direct and indirect tax would be beneficial but direct tax is the priority) and good working understanding of tax effect accounting principles; Circa 4 - 5 years of corporate tax experience covering both compliance and advisory, either in a Big 4 or Top 10 Accounting firm, or working for a large corporate group; Experience in owning and taking responsibility for corporate tax compliance across a group, including liaising with finance teams; Self-motivated with the initiative to proactively improve outcomes; Solid tax research skills; Ability to multitask and work on various projects with set deadlines; Ability to communicate technical information in a clear manner; Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with business personnel in a collaborative manner; Familiarity with tax software tools; For more information on this role, please contact Lauren Smart on: 0405 619 413 or https://www.linkedin.com/in/laurenmaunsell01tax/ or apply via the link below.
