At the University of Southern Queensland, we are dedicated to creating safe and secure learning and work environments for our students and staff.We are now seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Director (Security and Emergency Management), to lead our physical security services, systems, and processes.This key leadership role is crucial for ensuring the security of the university community and our physical assets. Who you are You will be a dynamic leader with a proactive and strategic mindset.You will demonstrate calm and decisive leadership, anticipate challenges and develop effective solutions to elevate security practices and protocols. What you'll do In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and management of UniSQ's security and fire systems, which includes a team of security personnel, contractors, infrastructure, and systems to deliver physical security services and emergency preparedness.In addition, you will: Lead the management of security incidents, investigations and audits and provide strategic oversight to ensure continuous improvement in security protocols and practices. Develop and coordinate UniSQ's emergency management procedures and undertake the role of Fire Safety Advisor as required by the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation Act 2008. Provide strategic, intelligence-driven, specialist advice to senior management on matters relating to emergency management, threat management, and physical security risks. Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and maintain compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. This role requires regular travel between UniSQ campuses and the ability to respond to out-of-hours incidents. What will help you succeed Together with your relevant qualification and extensive experience in the security industry, you will have a strong background in crisis management, risk management, and organisational resilience.You will also have: Excellent leadership skills, strategic planning abilities, and high-level interpersonal and communication skills. A current Security Provider Licence, a current C class Queensland manual Driver's Licence, a First Aid Certificate, and a Blue Card. Proven experience in applying security, fire and emergency related legislation within the higher education or commercial settings. Demonstrated experience in developing high level plans and strategies coupled with the ability to drive the delivery of results.
