Position Details
Receptionist – Part-time (0.9624 FTE), Ongoing
Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a part-time, ongoing Receptionist to become an integral part of the College’s Administrative Department for 2025.
We are seeking a vibrant, pro-active, friendly and confident individual who is committed to creating a welcoming and positive environment, ensuring that students, parents, staff and visitors of the College have a favourable experience.
The Receptionist will be in attendance from Monday's to Friday's, 8:00am to 4:00pm for 45 weeks per year. The Receptionist will work term time (40 weeks), plus an additional 5 weeks to be worked during the school holiday period.
The Receptionist will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
• Being the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
• Greeting and assisting visitors by welcoming students, parents, teachers, and other visitors to the school, providing them with information, directions or assistance as needed
• Answering and directing telephone calls to the appropriate staff member, take messages and maintain office change notifications
• Providing administrative support to school staff, including photocopying, filing, data entry and other office tasks
• Managing school-related financial transactions, maintaining and reconciling collection of money, including end of day reconciliation and banking
• Maintaining an inventory of office supplies, ordering supplies when needed and ensuring office equipment is in working order
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of organisational and time management skills, whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.
The successful applicant will also demonstrate the ability to multitask, actively listen, maintain attention to detail, stay calm under pressure and show proficiency in office software.
Previous experience working in a school environment and knowledge in the use of SEQTA will be viewed favourably.
Qualifications Required
Terms of Employment
• Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC)
• Hold a current National Police Clearance from the Department of Education
• Annually complete the online Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training and any other required CEWA training
• Hold or be working towards an Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School
High Desirable
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Demonstrated experience in the application of customer service principles and practices
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with students, colleagues, parents/guardians and external partners
• Proven ability to be flexible and confident in different situations and to provide assistance across a variety of tasks
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office
