Administered by the University of Sydney over an initial 3-year period, Quantum Australia is supported by a $18.4M grant from the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, with significant additional financial support from state governments and university partners.A central team will be based in Sydney to support state and territory-based teams Nodes in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, and the ACT. These Nodes will reside within the other Quantum Australia's partner universities.About the opportunity As the Director, New Ventures Program, you will lead the establishment and execution of a program aimed at creating at least 15 high-growth quantum technology startups in Australia. At the centre of the program will be a fellowship scheme, supporting up to 15 researchers to become startup founders through salary support and programming for up to 18 months.The New Ventures Program Director will lead the program's design through a collaborative approach, with execution handled both internally and through partnerships with leading program delivery partners.Your key responsibilities will be to:Design, build, and oversee the New Ventures programForm strategic partnerships and network with industry, government and researchersBuild and market a strong startup community within the New Ventures streamProvide effective leadership to the New Ventures Program Officer and work closely with the Program Delivery teamSupport and mentor startups within the program.About you Demonstrated experience making effective investment decisions in a startup environmentExperience with research commercialisation and experience working within IP heavy startups highly regardedUnderstanding of deep tech startups and establishment processesDemonstrated senior leadership and people management skillsExperience developing and maintaining strategic partnershipsStrong strategic and critical thinking skills and ability to convey strategy effectively to colleagues and leadership.Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
