We value safety, simplicity and our people above all else, and pride ourselves on our 'can-do' attitude and going above and beyond for our clients.About The OpportunityFrontline Automation are seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to oversee and deliver high-quality electrical engineering designs across a portfolio of industrial and infrastructure projects.
This leadership role will involve technical oversight, team coordination, and client engagement, ensuring all designs meet performance, compliance, and safety requirements.Perth-based and/or Port Hedland residential options available.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development of electrical designs, including power distribution, motor control, protection systems, and lighting for industrial and commercial installations.Oversee preparation of detailed drawings, schematics, cable schedules, and documentation using electrical CAD software (e.g.
AutoCAD, MicroStation).Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, client specifications, and statutory regulations.Maintain design quality through adherence to company procedures, peer reviews, and design checks.Conduct and review electrical studies, including load flow, fault level, arc flash, and voltage drop analysis.Review and approve designs, supplier documentation, and construction packages.Provide input into project scoping, estimating, scheduling, and risk management.Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure integrated design outcomes.Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.Support commissioning teams and respond to site-based technical queries.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.Minimum 8–10 years' experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in mining, oil & gas, utilities, or heavy industry sectors.Strong knowledge of LV and HV electrical systems, equipment specifications, and design practices.Proficient in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP or PowerTools.Sound understanding of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008, AS/NZS 61439, and other relevant standards.Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.Proven ability to manage design deliverables across multiple projects and meet deadlines.Current Australian driver's licence.Current Australian working rights – Citizen / PR or Eligible Visa.Desirable Experience & SkillsChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ / RPEV).Experience in site-based engineering, commissioning, or construction support.Exposure to hazardous area classification and design (AS/NZS 60079).Familiarity with digital engineering tools and design automation.Why Join Us?Join a rapidly growing Company at the ground floor and take advantage of an excellent opportunity to grow your career with the business.Be part of an experienced, close-knit team with a flexible, supportive and inclusive culture.Gain hands on, 'frontline' experience working with world class industrial facilities and equipment, and industry leading organisations.Freedom and opportunity to work on a wide range of engaging and diverse projects across multiple industries, or to specialise in your particular area of interest.Continuous learning and development through a variety of challenging work experiences and career pathways.What We OfferAt Frontline Automation, we recognise that people are our most invaluable asset.
