About the Position
Located at our Abri Residential Service based in Southport on the Gold Coast, we are launching our "Specialist Dementia Care Program". The SDCP unit provides a person centred, multidisciplinary approach to caring for people with very severe Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) that are overwhelmed in mainstream aged care services. Residents are provided with intensive support with a focus on stabilising and reducing the person’s symptoms over time with the aim of enabling transition to a mainstream aged care service.
We are looking for Personal Care Workers with a passion for providing care and support to those living with Dementia. Those who want to learn and gain further knowledge and care within a model that provides dignity, respect and treats everyone as individuals.
About You
As a Personal Care Worker within the SDCP area you will bring experience working with clients with Dementia and be keen and open to learn new skills and gain further knowledge in this area.
You will have:
1. Current National Police Check
2. Certificate III in Supported Living (Aged Care) or similar
3. Experience in provision of care services specifically for people with dementia
4. Residential aged care experience and a commitment to continuous improvement
5. Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal and an ability to work effectively within a team environment
6. Compassion and enthusiasm, with a friendly, approachable attitude
7. Client-centred care to residents and their families which respects and protects their rights, privacy & wellbeing
