About Mackay Engineering College:
The Mackay Engineering College caters for Yr 11 & 12 students, by offering them a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways. The Mackay Engineering College (MEC) is a joint initiative between the Department of Education (DoE), the Queensland Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) and Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ). This venture has been made possible by funding from the Australian Government ($5.9m) and the Queensland Government ($1.76m). The need for the MEC was recognised from the current and future growth in the Mackay area and throughout the state. Skill sets undertaken by students at the MEC support businesses that service the region and provide excellent opportunities for our young people to effectively transition from school into work.
About the Role:
A summary of the role that's being advertised, utilised to educate the candidate on the vacancy.
* Mackay Engineering College is located at Ooralea in Mackay.
* You will be training and supervising 16 students per class, to obtain their Cert II in Engineering Pathways.
* The students are selected from the six State High schools in the Mackay Region.
* The main aim is to get them ready for an apprenticeship.
* Liaising with industry.
Responsibilities include:
* Training in theory and practical work.
* Giving feedback to students on their work & progress.
* Visiting the students on Work Experience.
* Reporting once per semester.
* Helping to maintain our industry standard workshop and facilities.
About You:
* Safe use of tools and PPE.
* Create a safe working environment.
* Adaptability in instructing and differentiation.
* Sound organisational skills.
* Ability to communicate with young people.

* Bachelor of Teaching in senior ITD Engineering.
