We are seeking a talented individual to join our Accounting team at Marsh. This role will be based in Sydney. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Financial Reporting Manager
* The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for the coordinating and managing statutory and group reporting and audit obligations of the Marsh entities within the Pacific region, accounting for transactions (e.g. acquisitions, group reorganisations) and board reporting.
* The position is responsible for working closely with other accounting staff and working on other ad hoc requirements across all operating companies in the Pacific region.
* 13-month contract
We will count on you to:
* Preparing and managing staff involved in preparation of the year end consolidated and company statutory accounts for around 15 entities and related note disclosures in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
* Partner with the MMC Controllership Centre of Excellence in preparation of the financial statements, as well as coordination with other teams and functions (Accounting Operations, Company Secretarial and other functions) where input is required from those areas.
* Coordination with external auditor to ensure annual audit requirements are met.
* Preparation of technical accounting analysis of transactions and local implementation of new accounting standards.
* Preparation of documentation for presentation to the Board and Audit Committees and other key stakeholders
* Review and analysis of trial balance to ensure accurate recording and movement in balances
* Work to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in areas such as:
o Identify business needs for new or redesigned accounting processes and work with relevant stakeholders to implement.
o Continually evolve management reporting processes and reports to ensure the best available information is presented.
* As required work with IT groups and project teams to test and implement new systems and enhancements.
* Assist tax specialists in the preparation and/or review of tax provision calculation in accordance with US GAAP and local accounting & tax regulations.
What you need to have:
* Minimum 5-10 years’ general accounting experience
* CA / CPA qualified and Degree in Commerce or Accounting or equivalent
* Experience in preparation or audit of financial statements, including consolidated financial statements
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience managing staff
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Be pro-active and flexible to changing demands
* Experience with a Big 4 or mid-tier professional services firm preferred
