Job Description About the role Brisbane Girls Grammar School welcomes applications for an experienced Carpenter to join our Property & Facilities Department. This full-time, ongoing position is situated at the School’s vibrant Spring Hill campus. The ideal candidate for this role will possess an ability to effectively prioritise tasks in a fast-paced setting. A proactive approach to problem solving along with excellent communication skills is essential. As the School’s Carpenter, some of your key accountabilities will include: undertaking Carpentry tasks and projects across the School in alignment with statutory legal obligations construction of items that support School activities undertaking trade services, such as remodeling offices and workspaces undertaking maintenance services, including installing and repairing furniture, locks, cabinets, ceilings, walls, fences, ramps, stairways and other items to provide for safe use maintaining workshop equipment and tools procuring materials for specific work orders and projects responding to emergencies and/or identifying potentially hazardous conditions and safety concerns preparation of written documents such as estimates, drawings and requisitions. Desired Skills and Experience You will also have: demonstrated experience and knowledge relating to installations and maintenance, as it relates to Carpentry in single and multi-story buildings the ability to interpret Building Codes and technical information (e.g. blueprints, drawings) physical fitness and ability to perform general maintenance tasks the ability to offer some flexibility with start and finish times a current Car (Class C) Queensland Drivers License the ability to acquire and maintain a Positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
