The Role
The Senior Traffic Engineer is responsible for delivering traffic, transport, and parking programs that align with the Waverley Community Strategic Plan and People Movement and Waverley’s People Movement and Places. The objective of the role is to contribute toward improving the safety and amenity of road users and the community. Key tasks of this role is to implement strategies to provide safer streets, manage congestion, optimise parking arrangements, support delivery of special events, and ensure land use developments align with requirements. They also prioritise effective communication and liaison with internal and external stakeholders to address traffic and transport matters and uphold the council's image and reputation in these areas.
About You
1. Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and/or related discipline and extensive relevant experience.
2. Knowledge of NSW Road Rules and Local Government policies, procedures, and compliance requirements with an understanding of relevant guidelines, standards, regulations and Acts relating to traffic and transport.
3. Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Councillors and the community on traffic, transport, and road safety issues.
4. Intermediate project management skills and proven ability to achieve project objectives within set timeframes.
5. Competent skills in developing questionnaires/surveys, collating the results and analysing statistical data.
6. Current Class C Drivers Licence.
