Job Description
The Age is looking for a Breaking News Reporter to join the news team. The role will partner directly with the editors of the masthead, as well as their counterparts at The Sydney Morning Herald in Sydney.
Day to day you will:
1. Prepare clear, accurate, balanced, well-written stories in a timely manner
2. Ensure all copy meets legal requirements
3. Take ownership of stories/issues and follow up stories when appropriate
4. Demonstrate excellent news judgement and knowledge of current affairs
5. Ensure the highest standard of accuracy, ethics and editorial quality
6. Meet agreed deadlines.
Qualifications
What we would like to see on your resume:
1. Previous experience in a major newsroom
2. Excellent writing and communication skills
3. Ability to deliver to tight deadlines
4. Proven ability to quickly respond to breaking news and an ability to identify contacts for comment.
Additional Information
The role is based in our Docklands office and will include day and night shifts (including weekends and public holidays) on a rotating roster.
Please note there will be a writing test as part of the interview process.
